Parliament: Space Utilisation ProjectExtension of the Speaker’s Suite + Africa House Refurbishment

Company Director, Dr Luyanda Mpahlwa(PrArch) was Project leader for Team appointed by DPW and Parliament for the Space Utilisation Project undertaken with Afroteq to assess the Needs of Parliament. This Afroteq Report identified the need for additional office space, and the need to rationalise the Parliament Precinct in order to accommodate the current needs of Members of Parliament. The site at Corner Roeland Street and Plein Street was identified as the possible extension of Parliament and acquired by DPWI during that time. This feasibility and associated costs was presented to all the Party caucuses at the time. The project included the Extension of the Speakers Suite which was completed in 2008 and the refurbishment of Africa House, completed in 2010. In 2016, Parliament considered an extended precinct.
