The Bishop Tutu Peace Centre
PROJECT INFORMATION
Client: The Bishop Tutu Peace Centre Type: Design Proposal
Completion: Ongoing
Address: Cape Town In Collaboration with: VDMMA Architects

This project is conceptualised as a Global peace centre dedicated to the peace process in South Africa, and similar struggles across the world. It is a Cape Town legacy project initiated by the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Trust, as a gesture and contribution to the ongoing causes of development, peace and justice that exemplify the global icon, and Nobel peace prize recipient. The proposed development is a 5-star Green rated complex, by the Green building council of South Africa, and is designed to reduce its carbon footprint and promote sustainable design. The design team developed a series of complex forms that merge landscape and building masses to create an urban ecosystem, in contrast to traditional urban geometries.
